Week of January 29-February 2

  • The WBES Student Council will be hosting a food drive for the Elkhorn Area Food Pantry during the month of February.  There are specific items in need so each week the student council is requesting the following items:

    • Week 1 - February 5-9: Canned Good, Condiments and Boxed Items --- Chicken Noodle Soup, Pancake Mix, Rice Packages Pasta Sides, Pork and Beans, Canned hash, Ranch Dressing, Italian Dressing, Pancake Syrup, Mustard, BBQ Sauce
    • Week 2 - February 12-16: Personal Hygiene --- Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Soap, Deodorant, Hair Brushes, etc.
    • Week 3 - February 19-23: Pets Week --- Dog Food/Treats, Cat Food/Treats, Bleach, Cat Litter, Paper Towels, etc.
    • Week 4 - February 26-March 2: Canned Good, Condiments and Boxed Items --- Chicken Noodle Soup, Pancake Mix, Rice Packages Pasta Sides, Pork and Beans, Canned hash, Ranch Dressing, Italian Dressing, Pancake Syrup, Mustard, BBQ Sauce
  • An information packet for the Elementary Forensics Program was sent home this week with students in grades 1-5 who were interested in participating.  If your child is planning to participate, please sign the permission form that was included in the packet and return it to Mrs. Dowden no later than Friday, Feb. 9.  There was also a calendar with the practice schedule included in the packet.  Practices are from 3:30 -4:10.  If you have questions about the program, please contact Mrs. Dowden kdowden@williamsbayschool.org or Mrs. Bailey mbailey@williamsbayschool.org or 262-245-5571.  

  • Have some downtime between conferences? Need something for your younger siblings to do?  Have no fear, the Scholastic Book Fair is here! On Thursday, February 8th, stop in the middle/high school library to check out some awesome reads! The fair will run from 3:45 - 6:45 P.M. All titles will be best suited for 3rd-12th grade readers.You can also purchase online at www.scholastic.com/fair.  Come support our Williams Bay readers and promote reading in our community!Questions?   • Milwaukee Bucks ATTENDANCE MATTERS: The Milwaukee Bucks and Wendy’s Attendance matters program is returning to schools this year.  Students who have perfect attendance, with no tardies, during the month of February will receive a complimentary ticket offer for a Bucks game.  

  • 5th Grade Families: We are now in the 3rd quarter and it’s that time of year for students and parents to consider all the options Williams Bay Middle School has to offer.  To help prepare you and your child for next year we will be hosting a “6th Grade Information Night” on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m, in the Middle School Lecture Center.   Discussion items are: Promotion Policy, Acceleration Process, as well as clarify course options so you and your child will be able to make appropriate decisions about their future schedules.   We will also be answering any questions you may have about your child’s education.

  • Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on February 15 and 20 from 3:45-7:15.  This year spring conferences will be primarily be for specific students that teachers feel an additional conference is necessary.  I understand the confusion and frustration some parents have felt when they received alerts from Signup Genius for conferences they did not arrange with a teacher.  Our communication regarding spring conferences will be improved to prevent the confusion in the future.  Parents are welcome to contact teachers to arrange a conference if one is desired or if you have questions or concerns about a conference date/time that was requested.  4K/K and 2nd grade teachers are planning to include information meetings on Feb. 15 to help prepare students for the transition to the next grade.  

  • Williams Bay Elementary School will host 4K screening on Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9.  Children who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2018 are eligible for 4K/P.A.W.S. attendance.  All students will be required to provide a certified copy of their birth certificate.  Information will be sent home soon requesting name and address of children you believe will be 4K/P.A.W.S. age in the fall of 2018.

  • Lost and Found:  The table that contains lost and found items is overflowing.  Please check the table for items you child may be missing.  We will be donating items left on the table to Good Will in the near future.
