Bulldog Bites

      from the elementary school

Week of February 19-23

  • Monday, February 26 is the beginning of skating in PE.  Reminder for students to bring helmets to school on Monday!

  • The Williams Bay Staff participated in a lockdown drill during the Feb. 22 staff inservice day.  Law enforcement was present to experience our drill and provide information .  A briefing was held after the initial lockdown drill in which law enforcement discussed ways to improve our plan, answer questions and facilitate discussion.  Ultimately the result of the drill provided comfort to staff and experience to help keep students safe in various situations.  We plan to schedule lockdown drills with students in March to practice various potential scenarios at various times during the school day so students also have the opportunity to experience, ask questions and have discussion to increase their comfort as well.

  • The WBES Student Council will be hosting a food drive for the Elkhorn Area Food Pantry during the month of February.  There are specific items in need so each week the student council is requesting the following items:

    • Week 4 - February 26-March 2: Canned Good, Condiments and Boxed Items --- Chicken Noodle Soup, Pancake Mix, Rice Packages Pasta Sides, Pork and Beans, Canned hash, Ranch Dressing, Italian Dressing, Pancake Syrup, Mustard, BBQ Sauce

  • We will be showing the movie “Wonder” during Read Day on March 2.  This movie is rated PG.  If you do not want your child to watch “Wonder” on Read Day please contact your child’s teacher and we will engage your child in an alternate activity.  If you have questions about the activities planned for Read Day, please contact your child’s teacher.

  • Change for 5th grade band lessons beginning 2018-19 School Year:

    • Band lessons will be offered to 5th grade students before school from 7:45-8:15.  Each instrument will be provided with a consistent day for lessons each week.  This will provide a better opportunity for students to practice the instrument at home regularly.  Providing band lessons before school will provide an opportunity for more effective and efficient instruction in the classrooms as it is a challenge to find large chunks of time for all of the important content areas that are taught.  Students whose parent cannot get them to school for lessons will have the opportunity to ride the MS/HS bus the one day per week for the band lesson, if needed.  This is conditional on the ability to develop a MS/HS schedule for The band teacher that allows this to happen.
